WHEN CLASSICAL BEAUTY ENTERS THE MEME AGE

Our webzine reimagines Michelangelo's David through the lens of contemporary digital culture. No longer confined to marble and museums, this classical symbol of idealized masculinity is reborn in the playful, chaotic, and deeply expressive world of the internet. From vibrant pop aesthetics to ironic memes and glitchy digital art, we explore how David has evolved into a canvas for collective reinterpretation—spanning fan edits, absurd remixes, AI experiments, and viral imagery.

In this project, we gather and celebrate the many ways people have creatively recontextualized David, transforming him from a symbol of Renaissance perfection into a mirror of today's fast-moving visual language. Whether he's striking a TikTok pose, rendered as a 3D low-poly model, or plastered in emoji stickers, each version reflects our culture's shifting values, humor, and obsession with remixability. Our webzine is both a tribute and a critique—an archive of the ways this ancient icon continues to shape and be shaped by modern imagination.
